Congratulations! Sayuri Hernandez ( Sayuri Hdez Vera )

Today (October 21, 2016), is one of the happiest days of my life, exclaimed Carlos Dunn. Five years ago an 18 year old girl by the name of Sayuri Hernandez ( Sayuri Hdez Vera ) came to live in the Stronger Wings Dormatory and enrolled in the University of Colima in the Psychology program. She just Graduated with Honors and now has a diploma and a license to practice. Sayuri is the daughter of Crop workers and were it not for the stronger wings program she would not have been able to afford to go to college. She said, “Una meta mas que he logrado, un logro mas que también es de stronger wings, por gracias a ustedes lo he podido alcanzar… MENCIÓN HONORIFICA. Muchas gracias señora Hortencia Landin-dunn y Don Glen.(A goal more than I have accomplished one more that is also of stronger wings, thanks to you I’ve been able to achieve… Honorable mention. Thank you very much madam Hortencia Landin-dunn and Don Glen).

  Sayuri Hernández Vera was born on December 26, 1992 in Mexico City, where she completed the third grade.  Later, at age 7, moved with her parents, Patricia Vera Reynosa and Marcos Antonio Hernandez (currently 50 years old) to the community of Cerro de ortega, Tecomán, Col as a result of family problems. In the community of Cerro de Ortega, Sayuri and her parents lived with her maternal grandmother Reynosa Alba Perez, who would support providing a place to live; while her father was working as a day laborer in the banana plantations of the same locality. After high school (Technical School No. 19), due to lack of resources, was seen in the need to seek alternative that would allow her to continue her studies because the career she wanted to study (Lic. In psychology) is in the city of Colima. this is where friendships through Julieta Torres, knows the teacher Rúelas, who provided a grant covering housing, school supplies and money by “Project Amigo”; however being in high school is not awarded the scholarship since the scholarship applicants should be secondary. Despite this situation, the teacher with Mrs. Hortencia Landin Dunn and her husband Glenn Dunn, who supported her and two more students. Larissa Pinedad Pomp and Ma Guadalupe Coy. Sayuri came to the house of Stronger Wings in 2011.

Sayuri graduated at the School of Psychology at the University of Colima in October, 2016.

Sayuri Hernández Vera nació el 26 de diciembre de 1992 en la Ciudad de México,           en donde culminó el tercer año de primaria, para posteriormente, a los 7 años,           mudarse junto con sus padres, Patricia Vera Reynosa y Marcos Antonio Hernández (actualmente de           50 años de edad) a la comunidad de Cerro de ortega, Tecomán, Col; a consecuencia de problemas familiares.  En la comunidad de Cerro de Ortega, Sayuri (junto con sus padres) se estableció, con la ayuda de su abuela materna Alba Reynosa Pérez, quien le apoyo proporcionándole un lugar donde vivir; al mismo tiempo que su padre se desempeñaba como jornalero en las plataneras de la misma localidad.  Al terminar el bachillerato ( Bachillerato técnico No. 19), debido a la falta de recursos se vio en la necesidad de buscar un alternativa que le permitiera continuar con sus estudios, ya que la carrera que ella deseaba estudiar (Lic. en psicología) se encontraba en la ciudad de Colima, es ahí donde por medio de amistades conoce a la maestra Julieta Torres Rúelas, la cual brindaba un beca que cubría vivienda, material escolar y dinero por parte de “Proyecto Amigo”; sin embargo por ser de bachillerato no se le otorga la beca, puesto que los aspirantes a beca deberían ser de secundaria. Pese a dicha situación la maestra la canalizo con la señora Hortencia Landin Dunn y su esposo Glenn Dunn, quienes le apoyaron no solo a ella sino a dos estudiantes más: Larissa Pinedad Pompa y Ma. Guadalupe Coy.  Fue así que en el 2011 llego a la casa de Stronger Wings.
